I think that's dumb. And before you all start hating, let me explain myself.

I personally believe that men and women are equal. There's no question in my mind that women and men should have the exact same rights in society.

Granted, there are differences between the genders. And because of this one could argue that, some professions are better suited for women and some for men. I would like to say that some professions are better suited for one type of people and some for another type of people. I would leave gender completely out of it ‐ as I would race, sexual orientation or religion.

In our society I'm not in majority. Many people have a different view than I do. And maybe that's why we still need a women's day. It was not long ago that women weren't even allowed to vote. There certainly has been a struggle over the years for women to improve their rights in society and I'm glad these people are recognized.

Did it have to be this way? No. I think we can agree that religion fucked up equality from the start and for years to come?

In Islam the Quran states: "Men are the maintainers and protectors of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women)." Qur'an 004.034.

Christianity isn't at all much better: Ephesians 5:22-24 - "Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything."

We are all human and there are no differences between us. And to quote Sandra Bullock from tonight's Academy Awards ceremony - "there's no race, no religion, no class system, no color, nothing, no sexual orientation that makes us better than anyone else."

I think a modern and equal society shouldn't have to have a women's day. Women's rights and equality should be acknowledged every day of the year and not just today. That's why I think the International Women's Day is dumb. Having this day only serves to increase the gap between the genders.

We still have a long way to go and I want to make this world a better place for all of us. Maybe we need the International Women's Day to remind the people that are doped up on the Bible or the Quran - that this is still an issue?

I say, skip the women's day and the men's day (yes there is one) and celebrate everyone around you because you are all amazing people.

If you're Swedish my friend Åsa touches on the issue with her usual amount of sarcasm.

Lunar photos http://blomdahl.org/index.asp?id=1653 What do you do when you're watching the oscars and there's a commercial break? Some people make a snack. I browse obscure web sites. Today I came across the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera website. The C of the LRO so to speak. Anyway. It's not really news or anything but they have the raw 1.17m/pixel photos of various places of the moon. Among other things they have photos of the Apollo 11 landing site - the tranquility base. There are two photos in which you can see the descent stage of the lunar module (the DS of the LM).

Apollo 11 Landing Site LROC photo

In this photo the shadow of the DS is clearly visible. You can't really see the tracks the astronauts made while walking around.

Apollo 11 Landing Site LROC photo

In this photo you can see the tracks a lot better.

You can check it out for yourself. It's a little tricky finding the exact site in these very large photos.

Some advice on starting your own company http://blomdahl.org/index.asp?id=1652 I get a lot of questions on being an entrepreneur. People ask me if I can give them some advice on how to become an entrepreneur. When I tell our story about TAT, people say to me "I also want to come up with a great idea and start a company". So let me share some of the advice I give to people.

1. If you think you have a good idea for a company, then go for it. Entrepreneurs don't wait for anyone to approve of an idea or a concept. It's your thing, you have to believe in it. You need to lead the way. Dreamers talk but entrepreneurs execute.

2. Nothing will get done unless you do it. So don't sit around waiting for something to happen. If your potential customer, partner or venture capitalist doesn't call you back - call them again. Be persistent and drive the venture. People will follow because no one wants to be left behind.

3. Your level of education doesn't matter - at all. Some professions require a degree - being an entrepreneur doesn't. Sure, it looks fancy if you have a PhD when you go after that venture capital but ultimately the only thing that means anything is results. If you can achieve results and prove your idea, that's all that matters.

4. Don't be afraid to fail. That's inevitable. Knowing what risks you take is the key to overcoming a potential failure.

5. Finish what you start. That's probably the hardest thing of them all. You need to commit to your idea and the people you involve. Entrepreneurs love to start new things all the time, but a successful entrepreneur needs to finish it too. Working with something for the right reason, that helps. Money is maybe not always the right reason for starting up a venture, find something you are passionate about.

To sum it up and to get you started - basically: just do it!

I also want to point to you a TED talk by my friend and fellow co-founder Hampus Jakobsson. He gives a talk about how we started TAT and what he would do differently if he had to do it again. While I think Hampus and I differ somewhat on how we remember the past, he brings up some really good points and the talk is definitely worth watching.

Spirit is alive http://blomdahl.org/index.asp?id=1651

Like many other people I though Spirit was dead. No, no, no - Spirit the lunar rover. Reports last year told us that Spirit was stuck and that it's power levels were fatal. However, researchers have managed to move the poor little robot backwards using some ingenious maneuvering. 36cm. Doesn't sound that much but for a guy that have roved Mars for over 5 years past the initial planned 90 days. But 36cm is more than being completely stuck.

The rover is now in stationary mode during the martian winter. The batteries and the limited energy from the solar cells will keep it alive until May, unless winds blow some dirt of the solar cells and give it the 125W it needs to move around.

Good luck little buddy!

Battle Angel Alita http://blomdahl.org/index.asp?id=1650

I like battle angel Alita. It's a cool story. I haven't read all of the manga and I have only seen the two episode OVA but, I like it. I like the world. Now, James Cameron have been rumored to have finalized the plot for the movie. It's going to be a 3D movie using the same technology as his recent Avatar.

"If people are familiar with the series at all, there's something they call Motorball. That is something that Jim has always been dynamically excited about. It's racing on a super track, with characters that are built and created in the cyborg world to race against each other in an arena. It's almost like a gladiator match meets an Indy 500 race."

Now, I don't know about you but I get very bad vibes from this. I'm afraid that Cameron will do a Speedracer. You know, the same kind of fuck-up the Wachowski brothers did after the Matrix trilogy. I want to have faith in James because he have done a lot of good movies - mostly groundbreaking and awesome but, with some exceptions... like True Lies.

So please James, no colorful racetrack visuals. If I wanted to watch a Indy 500 race I'll watch ESPN. Still, looking forward to his adaption. I love cyborgs!

Bill Maher http://blomdahl.org/index.asp?id=1647 While eating sushi after a very fast (at least in my mind) run today, Cindy and I were watching Bill Maher. Ok, you're all going to think that I'm so behind on things going on in our world. I haven't seen or heard anything from Bill before. I've heard his name but I thought he was some guy on CNN.

No, Bill Maher is a stand up comedian, a social critic and a very smart and funny guy. I can't believe I haven't heard of him before. Well, I guess you're never too old to learn.

Cindy handed me a book from her bookshelf (the one with the books you have to be smart to read). It was Bill Maher's "When you ride alone, you ride with Bin Ladin". A book criticizing how people think and act in the modern American society and, more importantly what we actually could and should do instead. It's a fun read that will make you think and realize that some of the things we do are just stoopid.

Fast internet http://blomdahl.org/index.asp?id=1646 I have to say. Comcast is doing a pretty good job so far. AT&T - not so good. While comcast might be capping DLs and ULs according to some, I'm pretty satisfied.

Earthquakes http://blomdahl.org/index.asp?id=1645 There was a lot of earthquakes in the world last week. Aftershocks are rumbling still outside both Chile and Okinawa. You get very nervous when you see those big quakes considering we're living very close to a lot of fault lines (the red lines in the picture).

Saturday morning we followed the news very carefully as the tsunami from the chilean quake made it's way over the pacific ocean. My friends in Hawaii evacuated the lower coastal regions and headed for higher grounds. Luckily only 1-3 foot swells washed in over the beaches.

With so many friends affected by the 2004 Sumatra quake tsunami I know what can happen when a big wave hit you. Good thing that the tsunami warning system worked in Hawaii.

If you wanna keep track of earthquakes where I'm staying now use this url:http://earthquake.usgs.gov.
