 Back in San Francisco 2009-06-16 20:04:39 |

It's just so much easier to say that I live in San Francisco, because no one knows where Redwood City is (unless you live here). I'm working today (and dog sitting Cindy's little Dewey).
Apparently Werner and Erica is here too (about 7 meters from where I'm working). The world is small. We're going down to San Diego for Midsummer which will be fun!
Tomorrow I'm off to Chicago (wasn't I just there?) to meet with Johan and our new sales guy. Then I'm going back to SF on Thursday morning for more meetings. AND then Vegas on Thursday night with Cindy.
A lot of bouncing around ya? :) Tags: Travel, San Francisco, Dewey, Chicago Link to this article (0 comment)

 Hectic week 2009-06-15 12:57:55 |
Last week was so busy I had to have an excel sheet to schedule every minute. It went by so fast also. I arrived in Sweden last Saturday. After a nice dinner and some energetic and jetlagged dancing and drinking I slept like a baby. Johan and I took the train up to Stockholm the day after for a visit to the US embassy. Train back to Sweden and then followed a busy week with work, friends and smiling faces.
Now, I'm at the Copenhagen airport waiting for our flight back to the US. It's going to be so nice coming back to Cindy and San Francisco. Tags: Travel, Sweden, San Francisco Link to this article (0 comment)

 National Day 2009-06-07 04:42:50 |

I came back to Sweden today. It was our National Day, the day that King Gustav Vasa was elected Kind. This marked the ending of the Kalmar Union and the beginning of modern Sweden. It's always nice to be back in Sweden for this day. Tags: National Day, Sweden Link to this article (0 comment)

 Nihon 2009-06-06 04:50:30 |
My friend Martin took me to this amazing Japanese restaurant in San Francisco the other day. They had the greatest selection of Whiskey and Scotch I've ever seen. I'm going there again soon when I'm not driving and trying all of them.

They had amazing sushi rolls and other food. I really recommend this one!

Sharks with frickin lasers attached to their frickin heads 2009-06-02 09:15:34 |

Lego sure has changed a lot in the last 25 years. I remember when I was a kid and Lego Space was awesome. These days, Lego is even more awesome!
As a reference (how do you otherwise explain this) to Austin Powers, Lego decided to include sharks with frickin lasers attached to their frickin heads in one of their latest Agent play-sets. It's what Dr. Evil's son gives him as a present in one of the movies.
Awesome. One day my kids will get actual sharks with frickin lassers attached to their frickin heads to play with. Tags: Austin Powers, Movies, Lego Link to this article (1 comment)

 Marathon 2009-05-31 06:14:08 |
So here we go again! I'm down in San Diego for my second marathon. It's been a year since I ran last time and I'm both excited and nervous about it. I think I'll do better than last year since I had just had the flu when I ran.
This year it's only K-A and I who are running. My friend Martin is running too and I think he's aiming for 2h45min. Crazy right? I'm glad if I can make it under 5h. Hopefully I'll be closer to 4h30min but who knows who my legs feel about that tomorrow?
Wish me luck! Tags: Marathon, San Diego Link to this article (0 comment)

 North Korea 2009-05-27 09:32:15 |
The world really need to put their foot down and smack Kim Jong-Il in the face. Or give him a really good spanking. Just recently the provocative regime fired a new test missile. Kim is just a frustrated little douche that keeps screaming for attention. His life is about to end. He's suffered a bunch of strokes and he's just not going to last much longer.
I'm afraid that this guy will try to go out with a bang. Yeah, a literal bang. He's showing all signs of being a psychopath and he have no respect for human life. I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to launch a nuclear strike on Seoul on his deathbed.
For the sake of everyone here on this planet and especially the people in South Korea and the poor chaps in North Korea - the governments of the world should step in and put a bullet between Kim's eyes. The North Korean regime is causing a lot of insecurity in that part of the world.
Did you know that within a 2h plane ride radius from Pyongyang, 80% of the world's all electronic equipment is manufactured? Yeah, I made that fact up, but surely it must be a lot.
So, China, Russia and the US should say - "Kim, no more playing with nukes. We're serious. Stop it or we'll pull the plug on your sorry ass."

 Millimeter wave scanners 2009-05-27 09:14:21 |
Recently TSA put a millimeter wave scanner at the Los Angeles international airport. This new scanner "sees" through clothes basically creating a naked image of you. To protect your privacy the officer monitoring the images are placed in a separate room.
Allegedly there are no way to store images on the monitoring computer. The security guy is also not permitted to take cellphones, cameras and other recording equipment into the monitoring room.
I went through the scanner at LAX when I was flying to Chicago a week ago. The reason for implementing the new technology is to save time at the security lines.
Did it save time? No. It didn't. Walking through this machine took about three times longer than the regular security machine. The line was horrible. First of all, you have to empty all your pockets. Everything has to be put in a container and run though the x-ray machine. If you have as much as a tiny piece of paper in your pocket, then you are subject to a manual pat down.
This machine is supposed to eliminate the pat down. The effect was the opposite. Everybody received a pat down.
Really? Wasn't the old system adequate? Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) agrees and introduced legislation to ban these machines. (CNN).
I don't know. Looking at people naked all day sounds like a terrible job. No, I'm not being sarcastic. Take a good look around you next time your in line for security at an airport. Aside from that hot chick to the left and that blonde cougar sporting a nice cleavage to the right, would you really want to see these people naked? No? Didn't think so.
I think this new security machine is just a waste of money. Spend this money on actual intelligence work with more people in the field gathering actual intelligence. And stop harassing regular passengers.
I saw two guys on the plane being really suspicious today. I wonder if I should email TSA? They were middle eastern. They must be terrorists. Or? Maybe they just had to pee really bad. Yeah. Now I'm being sarcastic. Tags: TSA, Privacy, Millimeter Wave Scanner, LAX, Travel Link to this article (0 comment)

 Gourmet Grilled Cheese Sandwiches 2009-05-24 00:43:36 |

The other day I got some really bad cravings for grilled cheese sandwiches. I started experimenting and came up with an awesome combo that was so delicious I just have to share it with you.
I start of with some Great White bread from Whole Grain Natural Bread Co. I spray some olive oil on one side of each slice.
One of of the bread slices I put a thin layer of Dijon mustard and some ketchup. Remember, super thin. Dijon mustard is very strong and you don't want that to dominate the sandwich.
The cheese I use is Muenster Cheese. I put one slice of cheese on each slice of bread.
The filling consists of: Tomato, pickled pimento, chives and onion. The whole trick to get a sweet tasty sandwich is chopping up all the ingredients in tiny pieces. The onion has to be cut in .5-1mm thin slices before being chopped. This is essential!
I also put some of Patak's pickled lime relish on the sandwich (just a tiny bit of it. It's quite strong so go easy here). Also drop a couple of drops of tabasco on the mix. Then sprinkle some salt, pepper and if you have (thanks Ikis) lemon pepper.
Put the sandwiches together and grill them in a grill pan with raised ridges. If your bread is dry you can moist the slices with some of the water from the chopped tomatoes.
And after grilling for two minutes (approx) on each side you have a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich that is awesome! Tags: Grilled Cheese Sandwich, Recipe Link to this article (1 comment)

The Big Bond Girl Post 2009-05-22 10:15:28 |
Okay. So I might have gone a tad bit overboard with this Bond girl list. But said and done, here it is!
The TOP 10

Pussy Galore / Honor Blackman
Best name, best actress and she's so fierce. Love her.
|

Sylvia Trench / Eunice Gayson
She's the only recurring Bond girl except for Miss Moneypenny (and the fact that Maud Adams was in two movies but as two different characters). Pretty, classy and she invented the catch phrase Bond, James Bond by introducing herself as Trench, Sylvia Trench.
|

Tilly Masterton / Tania Mallet
She's so pretty and she's pretty determined to kill off Auric Goldfinger. She lives a lot longer in the book and it's too bad she killed by Goldfinger's goon Oddjob. She reminds me a little bit of a mixture between Cornelia and Ulrika.
|

Fiona Volpe / Luciana Paluzzi
Nasty assassin for SPECTRE. Bond later uses her as a shield against a bullet.
|

Solitaire / Jane Seymour
She reminds me of a friend. Fragile little girl, so lost but with an amazing personality. Too bad this one also had to kiss dirty old man Roger Moore.
|

Holly Goodhead / Lois Chiles
When I was a kid I really admired Holly. She was an astronaut and she was smart. Too bad she had to kiss dirty old man Roger Moore.
|

Jenny Flex / Alison Doody
Another kick-ass villain!
|

Camille Montes / Olga Kurylenko
I was a little skeptical at first but I changed my mind when I saw her in the movie. Good job.
|

Xenia Onatopp / Famke Janssen
Yeah! Kick-ass!
|

Vesper Lynd / Eva Green
I like her. She's classy and super devious. And one of the best drinks in the world is named after her.
|
Bonus and runner-ups

Plenty O'Toole / Lana Wood
She survives being thrown out of a hotel window into a pool and then tragically drowned in a case of mistaken identity by Mister Wint and Mister Kidd. Those bastards.

Corinne Dufour / Corinne Clery
Sadly killed by Drax after dirty old man Roger Moore sleeps with her. Living with the shame of having slept with Roger Moore should be punishment enough. She's ery pretty and she's a good pilot.

Melina Havelock / Carole Bouquet
She knows how to handle a crossbow and successfully pierces bad guy Hector Gonzales. Kudos.

Pam Bouvier / Carey Lowell
Pretty!

Paris Carver / Teri Hatcher
Possible the worst Bond Girl ever. Oh my god. What were they thinking. She's the equivalent of putting John Cleese in a Bond movie. But I don't really count the Pierce Brosnan movies as real Bond movies. Even "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" is way better than those comedies.

Elektra King / Sophie Marceau
She's pretty but Sophie is a terrible actress. She did a fine job in Braveheart where she didn't speak as much. Doesn't count as a real bond girl since she's in the Brosnan farces.

Wai Lin / Michelle Yeoh
The only thing that kinda balances out Teri Hatcher's terrible appearance is Michelle Yeoh. Fantastic Bond girl, strong and cunning. Doesn't count as a real bond girl since she's in the Brosnan farces.

Honey Rider / Ursula Andress
She has been praised as the first Bond Girl and she became an icon symbolizing the girls in the Bond movies. I don't like her. She plays a dumb blonde and the depiction reduces her to a silly little girl. No, the real Bond women are the strong capable devious girls. And technically Sylvia Trench was first.

Bambi / Lola Larson
I love Bambi. She kicks ass.

M / Judi Dench
She's a fine woman but I don't think she fits as M. Bernard Lee is a million times better.

Another honorable mentioning
Miss Moneypenny
There have been four of them but only three counts.

Lois Maxwell (classy!)

Barbara Bouchet (sure, not part of the official franchise but soooo pretty)

Caroline Bliss
(this doesn't really count because she was in the Bond farces)
4. YUCK! Samantha Bond (What were they thinking?? First they tried to make her a strong character, impervious to Bond's charm. Well you know, that's good. Maybe they'll stop showing the Bond girls in the previous sexist manner. Then suddenly she's in the hologram thingie (another wtf) and sleeps around with Bond, crushing whatever equality the producers tried to introduce, reducing her to a pathetic laughable little thing.)
A WTF?? worth mentioning
Mary Goodnight / Britt Ekland
Another dumb blonde. At least the first couple of movies had some strong and capable women and I think we're starting to see that again but this one? Seriously? I don't think the modern audience like when the bond girls are portrayed as silly little girls.
Not even worth mentioning
Yeah.. what the hell? Tags: List, Bond Girls, James Bond Link to this article (0 comment)

 James Bond 2009-05-22 07:58:45 |

With nothing better to do I put on the James Bond movie The World is Not Enough. What a horrible abomination of a Bond movie that is. First of all, Pierce Brosnan is a terrible Bond. He's trying to be witty all the time and he's just annoying.
And what the hell is John Cleese doing in a Bond movie? I mean, I love Cleese, he's funny as hell in Monty Python but he has no place in a Bond movie. It's not comedy for God's sake.
Denise Richards.. sure. I approve. Not wholeheartedly but she's pretty. Oh. I should compile a list of the top 10 Bond babes. Yeah. I have nothing better to do.
The only thing that's good about the movie is this poster. Tags: James Bond, The World is Not Enough Link to this article (0 comment)

 Two movies and a classic 2009-05-21 10:04:14 |

Today I bought three new movies. I bought Fanboys - you know every nerd needs to own this one. Unfortunately it wasn't blu-ray and even though I've vowed not to buy any more movies in standard definition I just had to support the production of the movie. I'll buy the blu-ray version as soon as they can afford to produce it.
I also bought Valkyrie. I missed it in theaters and I really wanted to see it. One of the reasons I wanted to see it was because Eddie Izzard is playing one of the characters. I wanted to see how he was doing in a serious role. Pretty good actually. Although I like him better as a stand-up comedian.
The third movie I bought was The Fugitive starring Harrison Ford (man, he's ripped in the movie). It's one of those old movies from the early 90s that I really liked and love to watch over and over. I mean, it's Harrison Ford. Indiana Jones. You have to love that guy - well, except when he's getting nuked in fridges.
Another cool thing with that movie is that it's set in Chicago. When I saw the movie the first couple of times I had never been to Chicago, but seeing it now is kinda cool because you recognize a lot of places and most of the time I know exactly where they are. That's... fun. Tags: Valkyrie, Fanboys, Harrison Ford, Eddie Izzard Link to this article (0 comment)

My friend Andreas sent me this url to the idg.se website containing an article which I guess was published in CAP Design in Sweden. It gives a really good introduction and history of our company, how it started and how we worked with Android. A very nice and accurate article. In Swedish only though.

It's always amazing to see the Space Shuttle take off. I was watching NASA TV and saw it live, but it would be awesome to actually see it in real life. In my bedroom I have NASA TV going on in the background. It's been on since the launch yesterday. It's fascinating see all the different aspects of a mission and not just the highlights.

 Insanely bad 2009-04-28 19:58:58 |
I've been insanely bad at posting new stuff on here. I have Twitter, Facebook, Myspace and this blog and while it seems like I'm constantly updating the world on my every move this blog gets the least updates.
I'm flying to Chicago tomorrow for more meetings and then back to San Francisco on Friday. It's so much fun working with Johan again and it's a very exciting time in our industry. People are saying the economy is shitty, I say this is the time for great opportunities.
I also got an email from Adorama and they just shipped the scanner for my photography company. So if you need high quality 35 and 120 scans then let me know and I'll help you out. That also means that some of my photos will be available for large limited edition prints. So as soon as I get my online store open you'll be able to purchase prints. Piracy and the death of record companies 2009-04-22 01:56:17 |
Here's just a short little rant.
Record companies are complaining about plummeting revenues and we're already seeing the death of smaller indie companies. Most blame piracy.
Let's take a look at this...
Record companies used to manage distribution, marketing and sales. They were the experts at successfully launching an artist and turning them into a positive revenue stream.
With the modern technology new and upcoming artists are looking for new ways to get their music out. There are a lot of aspiring bands and artists and they are trying channels such as MySpace and similar sites to get their music out.
That's fine. If a band can get hype online they are almost guaranteed future success. However, it can be deceiving to think that bands can manage completely without record companies. So, are record companies completely irrelevant? I don't think so.
There is NO demand for record companies that AREN'T EXPERTS at distributing music, marketing and sales.
There is a demand for record companies that CAN distribute music online, that CAN find new ways to earn revenue and that CAN use the net and social media to find new channels to attract new buyers.
In the true spirit of capitalism, PROFIT will be earned by those successfully adapting to the changing market and understanding supply and demand.
Companies that will try to regulate the market by legislation will FAIL. The market will always find ways around any unnatural obstacles.
I don't think piracy should be legal but do I think that a song is worth $0.99. Some are. Some are definitely not. Some songs would sell a lot more if they were priced $0.09.
And I'm not the one that should come up with that. That's a job for the NEW record companies. The ones that will be SUCCESSFUL! Tags: Daily Rant, Music Industry, Piracy Link to this article (0 comment)

Los Angeles and San Diego 2009-04-17 08:41:14 |
Just got back from a quick day trip to Los Angeles and San Diego. Flying these days are almost like taking the bus. It's so easy, it's so cheap and best of all (unlike the bus) it's fast.
Flew out this morning around 7am (had to get up at 5.30). Had my meeting, spend time with Outlook and then drove down to San Diego. Then after all business was done I had some two hours to hang out with some of my San Diego friends. Oh, how lovely to see them all again.
I'm probably going back to San Diego next Saturday for Therese's birthday party! That'll be awesome! Tags: Travel, Work Link to this article (0 comment)

So he did it. Ashton Kutcher beat CNN in the contest to reach 1 million followers! Amazingly entertaining to follow this thing live. I've been glued to my phone the whole day.

Ashton broadcasted live on ustream. New media is fascinating. Too bad governments want to control that channel and censor it. I guess they think it's easier to keep old media (TV/Newspapers/Radio) in control. Tags: Twitter War, Ashton Kutcher, CNN Link to this article (0 comment)
